That's all well and good, but it came out a little bit too late!

Subject: Helping Students to Banquet and NABS Meeting Friday 7/1

Greetings chapter and affiliate presidents,

I am writing to alert you to two items of potential interest related to this
year's National Convention.

Do you have students in your chapter or affiliate who would like to attend
this year's banquet but are unable to afford the $65 ticket? I know that
often students simply skip the banquet, one of the most dynamic and
impactful parts of convention, because the cost is too high. We want
everybody to have the opportunity to experience the excitement, so NABS,
with the help of a matching grant from our NFB Treasury, is offering
students who have not yet purchased banquet tickets the opportunity to
receive a subsidy and purchase a ticket for $20. There is very limited
funding available, and we are asking you to refer and recommend students who
could benefit from this option. But please only refer students who truly
need the assistance and who do not have alternative funding opportunities
through their affiliates and/or chapters. To refer a student, please contact
me at nabs.president at gmail.com or call or text 608 957-7337. Thanks to the
support of President Riccobono and NABS' fundraising efforts we hope to
ensure that all students can attend banquet in 2016!

Second, I invite all of you and your chapter/affiliate leadership to come
out to the NABS meeting on Friday, July 1 at 7:00pm. In particular, I would
like to point to a panel of affiliate and student leaders that will be
taking place at 8:20pm on Friday. Of course, I'd love to see everybody at
any and all of the meeting, but this panel in particular, I hope, will
provide valuable insights and suggestions about how to build strong
affiliates and chapters through building strong student divisions. Our
strongest student divisions exist in our strongest affiliates, and are both
a result and source of that strength. Come check it out and pick up some
ideas on how to strengthen collaboration and get students more active in
your states.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you in Orlando!

Sincerely,

Sean Whalen

President, National Association of Blind Students
