[Ohio-talk] Hamilton County Voting

Hello all,

I am still a relatively new voter having only voted in the 2012 presidential election, but I am having a bit of trouble working with the Hamilton County Board of Elections. Of course one aspect of the problem is accessibility and privacy of my voting process, and the other is that I am trying to vote absentee since I am currently in Montgomery County. 

I called the board of elections to get an absentee ballot. The woman I spoke to wanted to mail one to my home, which would work in a pinch but I don't want to rely on my parents, who are busy themselves, to get the ballot. I asked if I could complete the application over the phone and got a no. I then asked who I could speak to about accommodations because the woman asked if I couldn't just get a friend to help me or come back into Hamilton County for the primaries. 

I know general elections are of greater concern, but it seems the best I can hope for is to bug my parents to do everything over the phone. My mother would reliably cast my vote even if she disagrees with my positions, but that is precisely what would worry me about relying on another college student. I think the absentee process should be accommodated in some way so we can independently apply for and cast votes if hitting the poles isn't an option. 

Any advice, tips, or information would be wonderful.
