Many thanks for posting this story. . Blind scientists are not that
rare actually, but they are often invisible to those who need to
be aware of them. When I began college as a Physics major in 1949,
I was "excused" from lab sections of my physics classes by the chair
of the department, and discouraged, I soon abandoned the major for
other pursuits. I learned only later that there already several blind
physicists working productively even then. Your story underscores the
importance of offering one's experience as examples to other blind folks,
especially blind kids and newly blind.
