Sheri. I just got off the phone again with Sen. Obhoff's aide, Adam. He indicated he will pass my message along to the Senator. In my conversation, I explained that this bill has not been brought to the floor of the Senate and expressed that the concern was potential opposition. I reiterated that there has been no opposition to this bill in the House or the Senate Judiciary Committee. Finally, I reiterated that we are aware of at least one case of a blind parent facing blowback from a worker at a state agency in regards to a child custody matter. I will tell you that the tone of my conversation was a little less animated on Adam's end than my previous call two weeks ago, but that could be due to the numbers of people calling (hopefully about this bill). Just wanted to give you an update from my end.

Chris

Subject: [Ohio-talk] Day three in Columbus

Hello NFB of Ohio
Mike and I attended the rules and reference committee meeting this morning. After the list of bills brought up for consideration in today’s session, ours was not mentioned. There was a brief discussion about 309 however brought up by Senator Thomas. The chair of the committee indicated that his staff would need to investigate if there was any opposition to this bill. As we know, there was no opposition so we are looking to December 27 for the next and last chance of our bill being placed on the agenda for the next session.
We need your phone calls now more than ever to president Obhof’s Office at 614-466-7505. Please remind him that there was no opposition to this bill through the house and the Senate Judiciary committee and urged him to place this bill on the Senate floor for a vote. Thank you very much for all your efforts and support and all the work that you do for the Federation.

Best Regards,
Sheri Albers
