Hello NFBO,

I want to update you on the past two days of legislative news from Columbus.

Tuesday November 13: HB 309, our Blind Parental Rights Bill, was unanimously
voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and is headed for Senate vote! I
spoke to Senator Cecil Thomas' office today, and the first day it could be
on the Senate floor is November 28. Unfortunately, we will not know until
the day before. I am feeling really good about the chances that we will get
this passed in this year's session!

Today November 14: HB 659, our Prescription Accessibility Bill, was sponsor
introduced into the House Health Committee by Representative Brown. Thank
you Mike Leiterman, who attended the hearing and gave me the feedback that
this bill was well received. We will no doubt be working on this in the new
General Assembly next year.

Best Regards,

Sheri Albers, Vice President

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
