Greetings Ohio Federationists, I was encouraged to share some of our ongoing activity during Meet the Blind Month.

Yesterday our chapter participated in the Philomatheon Society of the Blind's Vision Awareness Fair in Canton. We got to share NFB information and resources with lots of terrific people, and meet with other groups, vendors and agencies we can work with as our chapter grows and moves forward.

Throughout the morning and at our table, I had my NFB White Cane, and we told a lot of event attendees about the Free White Cane program. Several of our chapter members have received their own NFB White Cane over the last few weeks, and I know will use their canes proudly and confidently on October 15 White Cane Safety Day, and every day.

This past Saturday at Canal Park Stadium in Akron, we also got to share with attendees of the Akron Blind Center's annual White Cane Experience. It was great to see some old friends who are now involved in Lions and other groups supporting the blind, and especially great to see lots of our chapter members there serving in roles like staffing fundraising and informational tables, plus several led the crowd in singing the National Anthem and later performed in a Bell Choir. It was moving and just awesome!

Next Saturday, October 20 we'll hold our third meeting as a Chapter of the NFB of Ohio. We'll be wrapping up our convention preparation, and be hosting a guest speaker from Akron Metro, to update us on public transportation for the blind in our area. If you'd like to attend, call me at 330-472-4084 for details.

It's already a busy and exciting month.

And can you believe, the Browns won again?

Happy Meet the Blind Month everybody!
