Hi there Federation family, I hope this post finds each of you doing well.
I want to share an opportunity for us as consumers of audio description and opportunity to let our voices be heard. I would encourage individuals not to be dissuaded from participation because of the event host, rather be a strong voice at the table.
If you have any specific questions please direct them to Jane, her contact information can also be found below.
Best,
Humbly yours,
Jordy D. Stringer
believe you can and you’re halfway there.

> Subject: Audio Description In and Around Columbus
>
> Attention all current and potential audio description consumers!
>
> You are invited to an interactive forum to discuss the current state of audio description in the Columbus area. This is an opportunity to find out what’s been going on (audio described performances, film festivals and museum tours!) and, most importantly, to tell us what you’d like to see happening in future. We want to know which services you use, what you would like to be offered, why you do and don't utilize audio description in Columbus, and your thoughts on how we can increase opportunities.
>
> Who are audio description users? Anyone who is blind, low vision or otherwise visually impaired. Parents and other caregivers of children or adults who are blind or visually impaired are also invited to attend.
>
> Jane Ehrenfeld (local audio describer and blogger: eyedescribe.wordpress.com) will talk about upcoming audio described events and how to request audio description at various local venues; Nicole Garlando (Program Assistant, VSA Ohio) will talk about VSAO’s mission and commitment to access, as well as VSAO’s on-line calendar of events and how to access it; Scott Lissner (ADA Coordinator, The Ohio State University) will be on hand to answer your questions about audio description and how it relates to the Americans with Disabilities Act; and Vicky Prahin (executive director, ACB-Ohio) will share some of her experiences as an audio description consumer.
>
> Where: Goodwill Columbus, 1331 Edgehill Road, 43212 (It’s on the southeast corner of W. 5th Ave. and Edgehill. The No. 5 stops at Edgehill, and there is an audible signal at the crosswalk. Note: This is a T intersection. If someone takes the No. 3, it stops at 3rd and Edgehill also and requires no crossing but a longer walk.)
>
> When: Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 10 AM to 12 noon (Note to ACB members: the tech session will begin at noon on that day.)
>
> Cost: Free
>
> RSVPs are not required but would be appreciated so that we know how many people to expect. Please e-mail jehrenfeld4043 at att.net if you would like to let us know to expect you.
>
> A big thank-you to ACB-Ohio for hosting this event!
>
> Spread the word! Please share this announcement with anyone you think might be interested.
