Debbie, I did copy her on the email that you received.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back

Suzanne,

Marianne and I have a tracking number for Cleveland students' Braillers.
Estimated delivery is "by end of day" tomorrow. So, we'll just wait for
what you can do to get them to us. But, since you have the books and paper
already at your house, I hate for you to make two separate trips. We usually
don't start using Braillers until Saturday afternoon, but we do work with
the books after preassessments in the morning.

Everyone has now seen that the ATAA has been introduced in the House of
Representatives. We should all be writing or calling our reps to urge them
to cosponsor this measure. Especially team leaders should contact the
offices you met with and let the ATAA aide know about the bill number. For
your convenience I am dropping in the message I sent to an office where an
aide that I did not meet with has this issue. You can modify my message to
fit your circumstances.

Hope this helps.

When I was in Washington on January 30, I spoke with Sarah Nasta In the
office about the Accessible Technology Affordability Act. I am writing to
tell you that it has now been introduced as H.R. 2086 by Congressman Michael
Thompson and Congressman Michael Kelly. If passed, this law will provide a
refundable tax credit of $2,000 so that blind people can by the expensive
technology often needed for them to go to work. We very much hope that you
will urge your boss to cosponsor this bill. Blind Ohioans need this
assistance to go to work and continue to live independently. I look forward
to hearing from you about what your boss decides to do. We left a fact sheet
with Sarah about this measure, and she said she would pass it along to you.
If you cannot find it, you can download it from nfb.org in the Washington
Seminar fact sheets.

Thank you for your attention.
