Update on the U.S. Access Board's Indianapolis Town Hall Meeting & Training (May 21)
The public is welcome to join the U.S. Access Board for a town hall meeting on accessibility in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on May 21 from 2:00 to 4:30. Attendees can pose questions to the Board or share comments or concerns about accessibility for people with disabilities. There also will be panel presentations on access to agriculture, outdoor recreation, and local ADA compliance and coordination.
The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. An assistive listening system, computer assisted real-time transcription (CART), and sign language interpreters will be available. Attendees are requested to refrain from using perfume, cologne, and other fragrances for the comfort of all participants.
Remote Attendance Options
Those unable to make it in person can attend remotely by phone or streaming CART. To join by phone, call (888) 396-7314 and enter code 7394831. One session (9:00 – 10:30) will cover how to apply the ADA standards in new construction and alterations and will address common sources of confusion. Another session (10:45 – 12:15) will focus on access to recreation facilities and outdoor sites. Attendees can earn AIA or ICC continuing education credits (1.5 credits per session). People are welcome to attend either or both sessions. Advance registration is not required, but those applying for education credits must register on site.
