The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] HB188 Second Hearing
HB188 had a second hearing before the Health Committee yesterday. Eleven written testimonies were submitted. Thank you to everyone who submitted testimony.
Dan Kelly, Heather Leiterman, and Joleen Bennett from Youngstown, addressed the committee in person. Shelley Duffy was there to lend support and to testify if needed.
The next step is to conduct a hearing for interested parties and those in opposition. This could be next Tuesday if the. Schedule permits. Once both of these groups have been heard, it is our expectation that the health Committee will recommend this to the house for a vote.
Once the legislation passes the house, it will have to go through the same process in the Senate. We will need more participation on the senate side, so stay tuned. Let’s be prepared to get more written testimony submitted.
Eric
