Sherry,
Congratulations on this wonderful opportunity. I know that I am no longer in Ohio, but I can assure you that you will be missed. I can’t think of anybody else that puts so much in to the NFB of Ohio. When I first read your goodbye message I thought who is going to organize Washington seminar, who will put together packets, who will plan training, who will assist the president in running our great affiliate. I am serious though you have done so much and offered so much to our membership. You will definitely be missed. I hope that someone will step up to fill the void you are leaving, I feel sorry for that person who becomes our next vice president because they will have very large shoes to fill. From the bottom of my heart I say thank you for everything that you have done for the affiliate. I have often said that you do the work of three people, so here it is I challenge three of our members of our affiliate to fill the void that you were leaving behind. I hope that they do it with as much if not more talent and integrity and determination as you have demonstrated to the affiliate. It goes without saying that you are leaving the affiliate in a better condition than you found it. We should all hope to be able to leave the organization better then we found it. That’s what growth is. Sherry goodbye and good luckp

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] A message from Sheri
Hello NFB of Ohio,
As I have shared with President Payne, I am writing this morning to let you know that I have accepted a job opportunity which will take me out of the state of Ohio, and therefore, I have had to resign my position as Vice President of the Ohio Affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind.
As of December 2, 2019, I will be the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco. This is a newly created position, and I will be honored to be the ambassador for an organization that fully embodies the philosophy of the NFB. If any of you were able to hear Bryan Bashin’s speech at national convention, you will know what I mean.
As much as I have the excitement of moving into this new career, I have a myriad of emotions that go along with it. What you need to know is, my life would never have been the same, had I never met each and every one of you. For the last sixteen years of being a member of NFBO, I feel that all my experiences with you have made it possible for me to secure this job, and even more than that, to turn my dream into a reality!
I do not like saying goodbye, so I will just say, “We will talk!” I do want to thank you for the support you have given me, for the lessons you have taught me and for the love that you have shown me. I look forward to hearing about all the great things that the NFBO is doing, and I gently pass the torch to the new Vice President, whomever that may be. You have a great president at the helm. I know how much he cares about you and how much he cares about the NFB.
Sheri Albers, Former Vice President
National Federation of the Blind of Ohio
