Subject: [Ohio-Talk] Help with finding work and OOD
Hey guys,
Hope everyone is having a lovely afternoon.
I’m reaching out in hopes of some help.
My dad, who is blind and retired has been looking for part time work at home for 10 months now. He lives in Westchester, OH by Cincinnati and is signed up with OOD there. Apparently they give a limited number of hours of “training” and they aren’t giving him anymore. I don’t know that he needs training or direct instruction on anything right now but he said the technology person won’t help with his computer because he has no more hours. He called his vocational counselor and she said no they can’t help with his computer. But obviously he needs to have a well-functioning computer to find a job and to use it for remote work since that’s what he’s looking for. And his computer is just being really slow and giving him a lot of problems. Additionally, and perhaps also the most confusing to me is that they are trying to close his case because he hasn’t found a job yet. So instead of helping more they are just closing it???
Apparently he worked with someone from a resource that helps look for jobs, I think he said it was called YORK?
But other than that it just sounds like nothing is happening and they just want to move on.
Do you guys have any thoughts on this. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Anna
