Thank you so much for the kind words about our event this past Saturday here
in Cincinnati. I agree that it was a very successful event and a real
positive for our Chapter in particular. We're very glad that you could make
it and very much appreciate your support of this event and our chapter in
general.
Very Best,
Chris

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] Great Cincinnati Vision Fair!
Dear NFB of Ohio Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
It was a privilege to attend the Cincinnati Vision Fair this past Saturday,
October 12th. Our Cincinnati chapter led by President Albers and other
chapter leaders should be commended for what I thought was a very energetic,
informative, valuable, and festive event. The food and refreshments were
excellent and the fellowship was even better. I sat at the table with the
OOD (Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities) representative from BSVI
(Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired), Sarah Kelly, and it was very
refreshing to see how she interacted with those that stopped by our table
and how she explained the services and reason for the existence of BSVI
competently and cogently. I have always thought that one of the best hires
at OOD in general and BSVI specifically is Sarah Kelly and she just affirmed
that for me this past weekend. Kudos to the NFB of Cincinnati chapter! It is
my hope that in the future there will be more materials in braille at the
OOD table specifically and at these kinds of events in general. The
hospitality was warm and friendly and the four hours just seemed to fly by.
I know how difficult it can be to plan these events and then to execute them
effectively; much work goes on behind the scenes and you are not always
really sure how they will turn out or who will attend. It was good to see at
least several of those who stopped by our table were interested in
re-signing with BSVI and in fact, I heard Sarah remark several times, "Just
give us another chance." One of the reasons I decided to be a part of the
OOD SRC (State Rehabilitation Council) was to make positive contributions
toward the continued success of the agency as it relates to the consumers of
Ohio. I firmly believe that this event in Cincinnati and the effective
communication of Sarah Kelly is and was a step in the right direction toward
this goal.
