Greeting Ohio Federation Members, I am ready for the state convention!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future.
Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low
expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.
You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back

Members, we still have so much work to do, and it is an indeed honor to
serve you!

As a reminder, I need to reemphasize that October 24th is the last day to
preregister for the State of Ohio Convention. So, please go to
WWW.NFBOhio.ORG <http://WWW.NFBOhio.ORG> and complete this task.

By now, you should have made your room reservations for the State
Convention. the room rate was good until October 15th. If you did not get
your reservation taken care of; then you should be calling the hotel in hope
that they still have rooms available.

Chapter and Division Presidents, please pay attention to the following
information!
A: You should have submitted your gavel award information to the awards
committee, on or before October ninth. But. if you decided not to submit a
report for the competition, you still must submit a report due one week
prior to the convention.
B: In addition, Membership lists and dues must also be submitted no later
than one week prior to the Convention.
C: Any late submissions from a Chapter, Division, or an offending chapter or
division will be subject to a fine of 25 dollars.
D: Eric and I should also know who will represent your chapter on the
Nominating Committee. The members of this committee are appointed by chapter
presidents. Thus, it is the Affiliate President who selects the Nominating
Chair from among the members. Please let us know who will represent your
chapter as soon as possible.

We have mailed out hundreds of postcards and sent out several Public Service
Announcements (PSA) in Franklyn County providing information about the
Convention. Also, the Columbus Chapter will host our national rep on the
voice core radio show, and OOD announced our event in their bulletin.
Therefore, that buzz that you are hearing across the state is the exciting
movement of the federation.

In conjunction with the 73rd convention of the National Federation of the
Blind of Ohio, we have invited families of blind children to an afternoon
of learning and fun. The focus will be centered around an informative
meeting, with exciting educational and social activities. We are also
inviting blind high school and college students to join us for a great time,
which will also include learning opportunities. These activities for parents
and students will take place on Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November
2nd, 2019, at the DoubleTree Hotel. The address is 175 Hutchinson Ave,
Columbus, Ohio.

The October Sharing Solutions for Vision Loss teleconference will be held
Sunday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m. The topic this month will be home
organization. Our guest speaker, Chris, from Home Joy will share ideas
about organizing and decluttering your home. Callers can bring their own
clutter and organization challenges to the discussion and share tips about
staying organized and clutter free. The monthly teleconference is sponsored
by the NFB of Ohio Senior Division. Callers do not need to be seniors or
members of NFB to participate.
