Subject: Re: [Ohio-Talk] state library talking books
True story. I was working at the Library for the Blind in Talladega Al in
charge of approving or not applications for talking books. Early Dec 1973 a
man walked in complaining that I had sent him a broken talking book machine,
if that was the best we could do forget about it he was going to Ohio for
Christmas. I told him we had some new ones coming in Feb 74. I wrote his
name and address down and kept it on my wall. In Feb the new machines came,
I sent the man his machine and I quit working at the Library that day. But
I continued seeing this man in my new job at the Special Technical Facility
in Talladega. One day in April he asked me if I liked baseball. I said
yes. He asked if I liked the Reds. I said yes except when they play the
Braves. We got married in Sept 1974 and kept that original talking book
machine and the box for several years until technology coaxed an upgrade to
cassette.
I do not know if you knew my husband Joe Shaidnagle but the library brought
us together until June 20, 2016...
