Hello,

I hope that everybody is staying safe and healthy during this very bad situation. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to be on a conference call with NFB leaders discussing SSDI and unemployment. The long and short of it is, that any of you who are out of work now because of the coronavirus situation are eligible for unemployment. Even if you get SSDI. Even if You may not have been eligible in the past, the current laws are different due to the virus situation. Unemployment benefits will not be held against you for your SSDI. If you have any other questions, please let me know. If I don’t have the answer now, I can try and get it.

Take care and stay safe and healthy.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
