2020 Primary Election VOTING FOR PEOPLE with Disabilities
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EXTENDED 2020 PRIMARY ELECTION PERSUANT TO H.B. 197
1. Extends absentee voting by mail in the March 17, 2020 Primary
Election until 7:30 p.m. on April 28, 2020;
* Ballots can be returned in-person to their county board of elections
by 7:30 p.m. on April 28, 2020;
* Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by April 27, 2020 and
received by the board of elections by May 8, 2020.
2. Allows an elector who has not already cast a ballot in the election,
and who was registered to vote by the February 18, 2020 deadline, to cast an
absentee ballot;
3. Limits in-person voting to April 28, 2020 and makes it available
only for individuals with a qualifying disability or who cannot receive
mail.

ELECTION
Traditional Absentee Voting by Mail
* Traditional absentee voting by mail is an opportunity for a voter to
request, receive, and vote a paper absentee ballot at home.
* To request a traditional paper absentee vote by mail ballot, a voter
must submit a written application, to learn more about requesting an
absentee ballot visit VoteOhio.gov <https://vote.ohio.gov> .
Accessible Absentee Voting
* Accessible absentee voting is a ballot delivery option that allows a
voter with a disability to receive an absentee ballot in an accessible
format and on any device.
* The voter can access, read, and mark their ballot both privately and
independently using the accessible absentee voting system.
* This system allows the voter to use any necessary assistive
technology. After a ballot is marked, it must be printed and returned to
the board of elections.
* For more information about Accessible Absentee Voting or to complete
an application to receive an accessible absentee ballot, go to VoteOhio.gov
<https://www.voteohio.gov> and select the Voters with Disabilities Link.
Applications for absentee ballots shall be received at the office of the
county board of elections no later than noon on April 25, 2020. A voter who
is confined due to personal illness, disability, or infirmity and who
submits an application to their county board of election may be able to have
a ballot delivered to their place of confinement. Contact your county board
of elections for more details.
RETURNING ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Voters can return absentee ballots in-person to their county board of
elections by 7:30 p.m. on April 28, 2020. Remember, your spouse, child, or
close relative may deliver your ballot to the board of elections for you.
If you are returning your absentee ballot by mail, it must be postmarked by
April 27, 2020 and received by the board of elections by May 8, 2020.
1. In-Person Voting
* In-person voting will be available for individuals with disabilities
who wish to cast an absentee ballot using a direct recording electronic
voting machine or marking device that is accessible for voters with
disabilities and those who do not have a home mailing address.
* In-person voting will only be at the board of elections. There will
be no polling locations. In-person voting will occur on April 28, 2020,
beginning at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.
