Dear List Members,

Last week I posted a message about the virtual career fair Wells Fargo is sponsoring and attending. They asked me if someone could evaluate the accessibility of the online registration. I had committee member James Gagnier do so. His report is below.

Best wishes,

Dick Davis, Chair
NFB Employment Committee

P.S. passed this information on to Wells Fargo and am going to pass this information on to the organization that is running the career fair, but I doubt the problem will be addressed before the fair tomorrow.

Hi Dick,

I was able to register with no problem, however, the second part where one is supposed to put in their information such as education, is problematic. Not all the form fields register properly. I can demonstrate this to you if you wish, but as it stands, this part isn't accessible. Labels are lacking and the logical form layout is hard to understand. I tried with the screen readers they suggested, (NVDA and Jaws both the latest version) and Google Chrome as they recommended.

Unfortunately, the wsecond part of the process is problematic.

James

Could you try to register on this site?

Thanks,

Good afternoon Dick – I hope you and Pat are staying safe!

I rec’d a call from Monica Victorino at Wells-Fargo this morning. Wells-Fargo is the lead sponsor of a virtual career fair next Tuesday, April 21st and she asked if we would send a notification out to our NFB Job Seeker network. Registration is free, and she tells me the site is accessible (although she said she would appreciate it if a blind person could try to register and jump into the pages to confirm this from their perspective). This is a big event for them – there will be 30 Recruiters from Wells-Fargo alone!

Here is a link to the web page: https://www.careereco.com/Fair/EventDetails?fairId=e445bb45-1ae1-41c2-8ac2-ab2d011114c8

Monica had already heard about the NFB Convention going virtual and is excited about the possibility of the Employment Committee holding this year’s Career Fair virtually as well. Both she and Wells-Fargo are definitely interested and would like to participate if we do the career fair virtually.
