Earn Continuing Education Credit

Hadley is proud to announce that select seminars have been approved for Continuing Education (CE) Credit. CE Credit can be used for certification/recertification or licensure purposes. Certification attests to an individual's knowledge and skills deemed necessary to the field of practice and conveys a sense of pride and accomplishment.

If you have already attended one of these live seminars and/or have reviewed its archived audio recording, you can now take the next step and earn Continuing Education Credit. Simply select the "Registration" link below for the seminar you wish to earn credit for. You will be asked to complete a registration form and pay a nominal fee. You will then be sent instructions for how to login to the online quiz environment. Simply score a passing grade of 70% or higher on the quiz and you will earn your CE Credit certificate of completion.

A distinguished panel has been assembled consisting of Audrey Demmitt, R.N., who began and runs a support group, and who is the support group advisor/peer advisor, AFB/VisionAware; Dan Roberts, director of MD Support and creator of International Low Vision Support Group Network; and Erica Weise who runs “The New Perspectives” support groups for Vision Forward Association in Milwaukee. This seminar will discuss the resources available to leaders and members of self-help groups as well as the use of some unique strategies for starting and conducting self-help groups.

Two Kinds of Light: Friend and Foe

Light is the way that images get into our eyes, allowing us to see. Most of us recognize that too little light makes it difficult to see or see well, but too much light or light from the wrong direction can reduce one's ability to see just as dramatically. In this presentation, Marshall Flax, a Certified Low Vision Therapist working for the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Madison, WI, will discuss the different types of lighting and how to control lighting both indoors and outdoors. This information is useful for people with low vision, family members and professionals working in the field of rehabilitation and low vision therapy.

All About Albinism

You probably have heard the term 'albino' referring to a person with very light skin and hair. But, did you know that people with albinism almost always have some degree of uncorrectable low vision? Do you know what it is like to live with albinism?

Join Seminars at Hadley for a 60 minute discussion all about albinism. Senior Vice President Dawn Turco will question a panel of experts on several aspects of the condition including; the genetics of albinism, the low vision associated with albinism, prominent psycho-social issues people with albinism and parents of children with albinism face and educating a child with albinism. The panel will also address the myths and misconceptions about albinism and talk about NOAH (National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation).
