[Ohio-Talk] Correction: 2020 National Convention Meeting is on the 29th

            On January 29, 2020, there will be a conference call on the 2020
National Convention. It is always good to start early when preparing to
travel, and it is also appropriate to consider saving funds so that you have
no worries and can enjoy yourself comfortably.

This conference call is to highlight the activities of the national
convention,   talk about the expectations when attending the national
convention and answer your questions about the national convention.

to give you a view into that week at the convention. They are not in any

•Federation lawyers oppose each other to enact a case addressing the civil
rights of blind people, and the audience serves as the jury. The subject
matter is serious, but the courtroom portrayers are very entertaining. Scott

5:00 - 10:00 PM—NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLIND VETERANS RECEPTION AND MEETING

•All state affiliate presidents and treasurers are asked to attend this
session. Topics will include state financials, year-end preparations,
chapter-affiliate relations, and insurance. Participants can discuss state
issues with facilitators Nick Lambright and Bridgid Burke.

Broken Spectacles. This all-blind band has rocked places like the Smith
Center of Performing Arts and the House of Blues. Escape the casinos for an
intimate performance where the under-21 crew is welcome, too. Tickets can be

Meet by the pool. You will hear one of us marshaling until 8:00 p.m. and

Technology is omnipresent in our lives. While it is invaluable in education
and 

employment, the blind are still excluded from many products. Hear about new

•Learn the basics of credit, including information on credit scores, how to
obtain and read a credit report, and how to establish a good credit history.
In addition, you’ll learn how to use your credit to your advantage to help
you achieve your goals and dreams. Attend this session to learn about the
types of loans available; how to shop for, compare and choose a loan
product; how to choose a lender; and how to protect yourself from risk.

6:00 - 10:00 PM—EDUCATIONAL TESTING SERVICE OPEN HOUSE (ETS)

•Come and learn about ETS’ new Graduate Records Examination (GRE) computer
adaptive test along with the latest developments in accessibility. Come try
out the GRE and other demos. This event is open to all to learn about

The 2020 National Convention of the National Federation of the Blind will be
held at the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel located in the heart of downtown
Houston.

Situated across the street from the beautiful twelve-acre Discovery Green
park, it's an ideal location. Ballrooms, breakout space, and sleeping rooms
are all stacked in the same tower housed on a single city block, simplifying
navigation and minimizing travel distances. In-room internet is
complimentary to all attendees as is access to the health club and swimming
pool on the 23rd floor. There is an array of dining options on the hotel’s
lobby level and many more choices within easy walking distance.

The nightly rate is $105 for singles, doubles, triples, and quads. In
addition, the sales tax rate is 8.25 percent, and the hotel occupancy tax
rate is 17 percent. To book your room for the 2020 convention, call
1-800-236-2905. For each room, the hotel will take a deposit of the first
night’s room rate and taxes, and will require a credit card or a personal
check. If you use a credit card, the deposit will be charged against your
card immediately. If a reservation is cancelled before Monday, June 1, 2020,
half of the deposit will be returned.
