Subject: You Are Invited: Virtual Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the
ADA

Hello Everyone;

We are so excited to celebrate, with you, the 30th Anniversary of the
signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Americans with
Disabilities Act became law in 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that
prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas
of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and
private places that are open to the general public.

The purpose of the law is to make sure that people with disabilities have
the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. The ADA gives civil
rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those
provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin,
age, and religion. It guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with
disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and
local government services, and telecommunications.

We invite you to join our virtual celebration of this landmark legislation.

Please Note: The Access Center will continue remote work until August 1st,
as a tentative date. This date is flexible and a result of the recent
increase in COVID cases, reported by Gov. DeWine, for Montgomery County.
ACIL staff are tentatively scheduled to return to the office, at that time,
working an adjusted office schedule. It is undetermined, at this time, when
the ACIL offices will be open to the public. Any public events, that were
previously scheduled, are canceled until further notice.

The Opportunity Center building is open with strict safety guidelines in
place. If you have an in-person need to meet with someone from any of the
other agencies in the building, please call ahead for details.

ACIL is scheduling the delivery of COVID kits to consumers of the center who
indicate a need for assistance obtaining personal protection equipment and
other supplies as discussed with an Independent Living Specialist. If you
need assistance with obtaining these items, and are a person with a
disability and a consumer of ACIL or would like to become one, please
contact us at: 937-341-5202 voice / 711 Ohio Relay /
