Good morning,
I wanted to update everybody on our affiliates adopt a senior program. As many of you know, this year, due to the coronavirus situation, mini high school and college graduating seniors are not getting the in person recognition that they deserve and were looking forward to. For this reason, our affiliate with our student division has established and adopt a senior program. So far we have 16 wonderful blind students who are graduating this year and who are signed up for the program.
What we are asking our chapters, divisions, and individuals to do is to adopt one of these seniors. Some of them are listed on the Facebook page NFB Ohio adopt a senior. Others are students at the Ohio State school for the Blind. Looking for gift baskets, gift cards, or anything these deserving young people would love to have. If you are interested in adopting one of the seniors on the Facebook page, just send them a message that way letting them know that they are adopted and they will give you their contact information. Due to privacy issues, the students at the school For the blind will need their items sent to the school. We do not have full names of those students, but I am in the process of getting a list of at least first names and area of the state. If you would like to adopt one of these kids, please let me know. We want to make sure every one of them gets adopted by at least somebody.
Thank you to everybody in the Ohio national Federation of the blind affiliate! I know your generosity will really help make these students graduation time Special!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
