COMS Colleagues:

I wanted to share the following information with you to share with your
students and to encourage participation.  Our own Dr. jw Smith is providing
wisdom and guidance for this evening's VP Debate.

The Ohio University Center for Campus and Community Engagement, Office for
Multicultural Student Access and Retention, and Scripps College of
Communication are proud to announce Virtual Debate Watches for the upcoming
Vice Presidential Debate and the two remaining Presidential Debates. All
events are open to all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community
members, though registration is required. Once registered, participants will
receive an email with more information and a link to join the virtual event.

For the Vice Presidential Virtual Debate Watch, on Wednesday, October 7th,
opening remarks will be given by Dr. Lauren Elliot-Durans, Assistant
Professor of Instruction in Political Science, and Dr. J.W. Smith, Professor
in the School of Communication Studies. There will also be a Q&A prior to
the debates, and a facilitated de-brief conversation afterwards.
