Greater Akron enjoyed its annual picnic this past weekend, with a great
turnout, lots of wonderful food and activities. We swore in three new
members Nada Douglas, Percy Martin and Lisa Martin, and had a really great
time getting together in person once again. This Sunday our Chapter will
host our inaugural Supplies 4 Scholars gathering, and present nine blind or
low vision children with a backpack stuffed with accessible school
supplies. On October 7 we will hold our third annual get-together for Meet
the Blind Month at Beef O'Brady's in Stow, who will give our Chapter a
share of the day's restaurant proceeds. Details to come soon to Ohio Talk
and our Facebook page, as well as pictures from the picnic and our Supplies
4 Scholars event. If you're bored or you just want to pitch in, come on
over to Akron, we always have something cool going on.
