                Ohio Members and Friends,

As usual, I know that you often hear from me about the weather in Ohio.
Please indulge me , because I am excited this morning because the
temperature is headed towards 67 degrees and that brings a smile to my face.
We can look to sunny days and at some point, a new norm.

I hope you as I too have been paying a lot of attention to the updates from
Governor DeWine and it certainly is good to have more access to a variety
of vaccines that are readily available. I hope that you will strongly
consider getting one of them. This coming Saturday I am scheduled to get my
first shot. So I will keep you updated.

I want to personally thank you all for the birthday wishes. Yes, I am
getting older, but I am gaining wisdom that will carry me far!

Ohio members, below you will find much and necessary information about
events in Ohio and at the National level. Please read all of the content to
stay informed and up to date on the NFB happenings!

National Federation of the Blind of Ohio (NFBO)

75th Annual Convention

Join us as we celebrate NFBO’S Annual Convention and expand our circle of
participation, connecting blind Americans from across the state for what we
expect to be the largest gathering of blind people in the history of Ohio.

“Back to the basics and engaging the future”

Thomas Edison famously said that before he invented the lightbulb, he had to
find a thousand ways to not invent the lightbulb. But even Thomas Edison had
to clean up his work bench in between attempts. This is TRUE THAT the
federation must also find ways to teach, train and promote our philosophy
and by doing this we will prepair the next generation and the world as we
continue to IMPROVE the WAY OF LIFE for the blind.

The 75th Ohio State Convention, coined “Back to the basics” will be held
November 5th-6th-7th, 2021 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Columbus –
Worthington located at 175 Hutchinson Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43235. The
telephone number for reservations is (614) 885-3334.

Note! This is a message for all chapter and division presidents.

The state board is planning several leadership training efforts during the
coming year. The first of these will be intended for chapter and division
officers. We will discuss the duties and responsibilities of presidents,
Vice Presidents, secretaries, and treasurers. The date is March 27 from 1:00
to 5:00. We are counting on presidents to notify their officers and at-large
board members of this meeting and strongly urge them to attend. This will be
a Zoom meeting so that people can use either a computer or telephone to
connect with the gathering. We are counting on you to work with your
officers or get them in touch with Todd Elzey to help them decide to connect
for the meeting. I am asking every chapter or division president to contact
me off list or by phone to let me know that you have read and will respond
to this message. If I do not hear from you, I will chase you down to be sure
that you are at work on this effort. We will send the Zoom link out the week
before the meeting. You will see my email address in the signature block
below. My phone number is there as well. Please be sure that all of your
officers learn of this training session immediately. Todd Elzey and I were
appointed to coordinate all of the leadership programs during the coming
year. You can expect to receive further announcements from us about
leadership training in the months ahead.

Door Prizes:

We are accepting door prizes for the 2021 national convention. We learned a
lot about virtual door prizes at last year’s convention and recommend
sending cash donations to make it easier to create groups of prizes that can
be distributed from one location. Please make your checks payable to
National Federation of the Blind and write “Door Prizes” in the memo. You
should mail the check to National Federation of the Blind; 200 East Wells
Street; Baltimore, MD 21230; Attention: Fiscal Services - DP. By addressing
the check this way, we will easily identify it as a door prize and process
it accordingly. You can also send an email to <mailto:prize at nfb.org>
prize at nfb.org to let us know you are sending a contribution for the door
prizes and the full name of the organization that the contribution is from.
We want to make sure we recognize you on our thank-you list. You can contact

COVID-19 Update: Vaccination Phase 1D and Phase 2B, Centralized Vaccination
Scheduling Tool

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted today
provided the following updates on Ohio's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PHASE 1D AND PHASE 2B VACCINATION ELIGIBILITY

In response to significant increase in the amount of vaccine coming into
Ohio, Governor DeWine today outlined the individuals who are included in
Phase 1D and Phase 2B of Ohio's vaccination plan, which will go into effect
on Thursday, March 11.

Phase 1D includes approximately 197,000 eligible Ohioans with certain
medical conditions not addressed in previous phases, including type 2
diabetes and end-stage renal disease.

Phase 2B will open vaccinations based on age for Ohioans ages 50 and older.
This group includes approximately 1.2 million eligible Ohioans.

VACCINATION SCHEDULING TOOL

Governor DeWine announced today that Ohio's centralized scheduling website
is now available at

gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov. The website will serve as a singular
location for Ohioans to confirm that they are eligible to be vaccinated,
identify nearby providers, and schedule their vaccine appointments.

"As we continue to receive more vaccines, having a centralized scheduling
website will streamline the process, reduce data lags, and provide real-time
information on vaccination progress across the state," said Governor DeWine.

The Ohio Department of Health will continue to work directly with vaccine
providers to integrate their current systems into the statewide system.
Providers will be expected to use this system or another electronic
scheduling system that interfaces with this portal.

The centralized scheduling website will also be used for scheduling
appointments at the
