As Treasurer, this is the type of work I love most about the job. What type
of work do I mean you wonder? Well, every time we hold fundraisers where
individuals donate, I have to collect all those donations, track them, and
then make the final payment. But this type of work for a fundraiser like
this is a true joy because this is the heart of the NFB - working in our
communities to help promote what it really means to be blind and show
others that we are fully integrated members of society. In this case, we
have the added benefit of helping people who are in a really bad situation
and really need help. So with that said, not only will I do the backend
work to make this happen (with a huge smile), I'm going to up the ante (yes
I used to play poker) and donate $50 to the project. I also have two boxes
of crossword puzzle books for 4th and 5th graders (15 books for each grade
level) that I promised the Springfield Chapter I would contribute. The
Chapter has changed to making a financial donation due to COVID logistical
issues, but I will still donate these books.

Cheryl gave a goal of $500, which is an awesome goal. But I know the
generosity of this affiliate because I have seen it in action on other
fundraisers, so if I was sitting at a poker table right now I would be
willing to bet that the NFB of Ohio will exceed that goal. As Cheryl said
donations by check from individuals, chapters, divisions, etc. can be sent
to Todd Elzey, Treasurer National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, 3779
Waterbury Dr., Dayton, OH 45439. If you would prefer to send money
electronically, you can do so via Zelle or Paypal at treasurer at nfbohio.org.
Just make sure no matter how you donate, that you include a note indicating
that the donation is for the Community Service fundraising project. If for
some reason you can't add the note to the donation, you can also send me an
email with the donation details and I will make sure it gets credited
properly.

Let's go build the Federation and contribute to our communities as the same
time!

Todd Elzey, Treasurer
National Federation of the Blind of Ohio
