Greetings,

Thanks to all of you again for your attendance please keep supporting
members and let's go build the Federation.

Richard Payne, President
National Federation of the Blind of Ohio

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Colleen.

I agree that SD wasn't present for the roll calls during the Resolutions. I
know that their affiliate president is ill, and a VP attended the roll call
of the states yesterday in his place. Not sure about Wyoming.

I agree that each delegation needs to have at least one member present at
all times for General Sessions and other important meetings at Convention.
It was nice to hear Richard today during both of the voice votes.

Very Best,

Chris

Hello Everyone,
I was surprised when South Dakota did not have a Delegate for Voting. I know
I am a little old-fashioned but I think it is the responsibility of the
Delegate and Alternate Delegate to do their job. I feel that they have made
a Commitment to the members of their Affiliate. I was also sad that Wyoming
did not have a Delegate at the Convention. In the past, I know that National
helped a struggling Affiliate get a Delegate and Alternate to the
Convention.
I got myself in a bit of hot water one year when I said people should go to
the Convention to represent their Affiliate and attend Sessions and other
Meetings. We should try to make sure that a member of our Delegation be
present at Sessions, Division Meeting and other activities. I am not saying
you shouldn't have fun at a Convention.
In 1980 I went shopping with someone from the Housekeeping Staff at the
Hotel. We became friends and kept in touch for many years.
If we were in Louisville I would probably spend about four hours at APH.
I haven't been there since I was a little girl.
When Judy, Karen and I went to Dallas Judy went to ges Baby Food for Karen.
Karen sat at the table in Independence Market so I could help people with
clocks and watches. I got permission to have Karen sit in her wheelchair
beside me. She didn't cause any disruptions that I can remember.
If I had been able to work at the Independence Market and check out some
exhibits on Wednesday in NOLA I might have gone to the Ursuline Convent if
that had been possible.
Sorry for this long letter but I just miss everyone.
Paige I hope you were able to claim your prize. Frankie Jones I also hope
you were able to claim your prize.
I hope people bought little pads for their dogs feet. I would not have
thought of that but someone mentioned it. I didn't know this but I guess
some cats get sunburned. That probably applies to dogs too.
Those test kits would have been nice but I would have had to pass it on
since I do not have a smartphone yet.
I loved the Gift Certificates for Independence Market.
For those of you who have cats they may not be very happy when you get home.
