Hello Everyone,
I have been asked to share this information far and wide.
I spoke with one of the Technical Team for the e-reader today. We had exchanged a couple of emails and she had shared them with the person in charge of the e-reader Project.
I will give you some suggestions and I will also share some things which may help you with the operation of the e-reader.
This will be a long email so please be patient. I do not know any other way to share this information with all of you.
When you have trouble with some thing please call the Library for the Blind. If they cannot answer your questions ask them to file form with the Technical Department. Do not hesitate to do this. You should also ask to put on the Listserv for the e-reader. This is a low traffic list but has very good information.
There is a Quarterly Zoom Meeting which may receive information about via email. This is not the Listserv, it is something different.
If you do not receive anything in two weeks call the Library back. I have some information for those who do receive a Response or are not getting questions answered.
The next answers are for questions I asked. The File Manager and the Book Manager are the same. Books which are produced in BRF, (braille ready format) do not have levels. You will need to move by paragraph. You can also use find, that is, f-chord, dots 1-2-4 with the spacebar pressed together. The spacebar is referred to as a Chord.
If you want to move in a book you can press j-chord, dots 2-5 with the spacebar. You can then down arrow with the outer Thumb Key to find the Navigation Key you want. Press Enter. Then choose the Keystrokes for theNavigation unit you wish to use. NLS Magazines usually work the same as books. Newsline Articles are set up differently. Level 3 is for Articles. When you use the outer thumb key you should be able to go to the next Article. When you want to read an Article use Inner Thumb Keys to read the Article. If you want to skip a Section enter j-chord and scroll down to Level 2. Press Enter and press Outer Thumb Key to skip that section. You will need to go to Level 3 to read next Article.
If you wish to auto-scroll make sure your Auto-scroll is enabled in
settings. To start Auto-scroll
press dots 3-4 chord. That will start auto-scroll. You will note that this is the ST-SIGN Chord. You can increase and decrease the Auto-scroll rate.
Please call the Library with your questions first. If they cannot answer them ask them to file a Report. This report will go to the Technical Team and you will get a Response. Also please sign up for the listserv.
Be persistent, you have the right to receive the information you request.
If you do not get the answers you need and you contact me I will give you information so that you can get the Information you need.
I learned this next technique myself. I you are in a book or magazine and you need to change volumes enter h-chord, dots 1-2-5 chord together. You will be in a list. Scroll down with the outer thumb key. You will see volume. Press enter and choose previous or next volume. It really works.
Please be patient. I learned so much today that I would not even consider returning my device. Remember that there is a Users Guide in your Unit. Also remember that the Select Button in the middle on the front of your unit is usually interchangeable with the Enter Button.
Please spread the word. Chapter Presidents please share this information with those who do not have ohio-talk.
Also for everyone the Technical Team has asked us to be proactive and proceed as described in this email.
