The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Fellow Federationists:
As we all know, it takes money to run the many programs we operate to change
what it means to be blind. As a non-profit organization, we depend on
donations and fundraising activities to raise the money we need for things
like helping newly blind Ohioans, protecting the rights of blind parents,
ensuring that blind Ohioans have access to safe medication via accessible
prescription labels, and improving the employment opportunities for blind
Ohioans.
This year our first Affiliate wide fundraiser is the annual Piggest Raffle
Ever. In this fundraiser, you can buy a $5 raffle ticket for the opportunity
to win $10,000, $5,000, or a Cincinnati weekend getaway valued at $1,500.
The Piggest Ever Raffle is part of the annual Cincinnati Flying Pig
Marathon. The best part of this fundraiser for the NFB is that we receive
100% of each $5 ticket sold by the organization. At a recent meeting, we set
a goal to raise $3,000 via this fundraiser. While we are on the board and
have some ticket sales, we are a long long way from that goal.
So today I am asking that everyone go to http://piggestraffleever.com/ and
buy as many tickets as you are comfortable with. I started with 5 tickets
for $25 for myself. Remember to click on the drop-down menu and select the
National Federation of the Blind of Ohio as the organization you are buying
tickets from. If you don't select the National Federation of the Blind of
Ohio as your organization, we will not get credit for the sale or the money
from the tickets you purchase.
Of course, we don't just want our members to be the ones purchasing tickets,
so also make sure that you share this fundraiser with your friends and
networks. This is a great opportunity for anyone to help our efforts to
improve what it means to be blind in Ohio while also having a chance to add
as much as $10,000 to their own bank accounts.
So go buy those tickets now. The drawing will take place Saturday, May 1,
2022. Online ticket sales will continue through Friday, April 30, 2022.
Let's go raise at least $3,000 for the NFB of Ohio, and please let me know
if you have any questions.
