This is a great chocolate pie.

San Francisco Chocolate Pie

This is the recipe I got from a stranger on an airplane who saw me writing down chocolate recipes from a mystery. She said that, if I loved chocolate, she had a recipe for me. I gave her my email address, and this is what she sent. She was right about it.

Crust ingredients:

Oreo Crumb Crust (premade from grocery store) chill in freezer

or 18 Oreo cookies, crushed and 3 Tablespoons butter melted, Pressed into large pie pan & frozen for 1 hour

Filling ingredients:

12 oz semi-sweet Nestles real chocolate chips

5 egg yolks

3 tablespoons Kailua

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

In blender combine chocolate chips, egg yolks, & Kailua. In microwave heat cream until it just comes to a boil. With blender at low speed pour hot cream over chocolate mixture. The heat melts the chocolate & cooks the egg yolks. Blend until smooth. Pour into frozen shell & chill 3 hours or till set. Do not freeze pie.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise expectations for blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and their dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
