[Ohio-Talk] Voting Today-Good Experience

I was also able to vote yesterday. Only had a couple of glitches. When I got up to the table to sign in, and told them that I needed an accessible audio ballot, the first thing that was said was, I’m not sure if we do that. I told her that you do, and that all machines are equipped to be used audibly. She asked one of the other poll workers, and they knew all about it. They gave me the headphones, and we proceeded to a machine. When we plug, the headphones in, the audio did begin. However, I could not get any of the buttons on the remote to work. I was not sure what was wrong, and neither were they. I explain to them that the machine was talking, but the maneuverability wasn’t working at all. After examining the remote for a moment, I realized that the top layer that covers the buttons was broken. I showed this to the poll worker, and they got a poll manager. He looked at the remote and realized that it was broken as well. He was able to cancel out my ballot from that machine and remove it, and then we went to a different machine. I was able to vote on that one with no problems.

Just wanted to share.

Annette.

Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.

I voted today at my local polling place in Hamilton County and had a good
experience with the accessible voting machine. They did have the machine
ready at 7 am. The only issue I had is they put the headphone jack in the
hole where you plug in accessible touch controls like buttons or a breath
activated cursor. There are two holes marked with tactile symbols
(headphones or wheelchair) so just make sure it the correct one on the left.

Thanks,
