Route 66 Ride for Literacy with Dan O'Rourke
Follow the journey of the summer. Share the love of Braille. Connect with a
community.

In partnership with the National Federation of the Blind, Dan O'Rourke is
traveling more than 2,700 miles on a bike across the country from Santa
Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois along the famous Route 66. As a
National Hockey League (NHL) referee, Dan is used to skating on thin ice,
making tough calls, and taking a few hits along the way. As the child of a
blind parent, Dan also knows how important it is for you to know that as a
blind person or a family member of a blind person, you are not alone.
Connect with a community who believes in you. We believe in blind people,
and we believe in Dan. Learn more about the Route 66 Ride for Literacy.

I am following Dan O'Rourke as he bikes across the country along historic
Route 66 this summer to raise awareness for Braille literacy. Dan is a
National Hockey League referee and son of a blind father-he is using his
strength and determination to show that we are not alone. Whether you are a
hockey fan or not, this summer we are all rooting for Dan and the Nation's
Blind. Learn about the Route 66 Ride for Literacy at nfb.org/route66.
Thank You
Thank you for your support. The National Federation of the Blind knows that
blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every
day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations
create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life
you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
