Henry was always so cheerful. I remember him laughing and teasing. Like Eric, I knew Henry best at Washington Seminars. He was always where he needed to be when he needed to be there. He was happy to carry a coat or a stack of folders. He listened carefully to what was being said and put in his comments with good judgment. I will miss him. His corner of Heaven will be brighter for his coming.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise expectations for blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and their dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

He truly was a federationist. One of my most memorable times, is seeing him in the hallways at the national convention in Detroit selling M&M’S.

He did not like that, but quickly adjusted. She was concerned for his safety living alone at home. I am so glad that she knew what he needed.
