Earlier today, Suzanne forwarded a message from Sharla Glass letting us know that HB 382, our accessible Prescription Labeling Bill, passed the Ohio House. This is the most progress we have made with this legislation. But our work is not yet done. Over the past several months and weeks, I have had people tell me that we will not get this Bill passed this General Assembly. I don’t believe it. Those are people who don’t understand the strength and power of the National Federation of the Blind. But you and I do, so I know we can prove them wrong and, at the same time, change lives for the blind of Ohio.
We need you to contact your member of the Ohio Senate. This is the person who represents your Senate District at the Ohio State House. Let him or her know the importance of having an accessible prescription label for your medication. If you are providing care for someone, you need accessible prescription information to dispense their medication as well.
Ask your Senator to contact the President of the Senate and let him know we need this legislation passed now. If it doesn’t pass now, we will have to start over again in 2025. Our friend and long-time sponsor of this legislation in the House (Richard Brown) will no longer be in the legislature.
Please let us know what contacts you make and what responses you get.
Thanks.
Eric
