Subject: [NFB-Legislative-Directors] Update to the FAA Reauthorization Act

Hi All,

Thank you to all who are making calls and emails to your House of Representative members asking for them to support H.R.3935 as it moves through the House this week. I wanted to provide an update of where we are in the process.

The way that the House is identifying the legislation on their calendar is the Senate Amendment to H.R.3935 the FAA Reauthorization Act. The legislation has been placed on the House Suspension Legislative Calendar for today May 14, 2024. This is a list of bills or Resolutions that the chamber has agreed to wave the official rules of the House where the bill would have to go through the Rules Committee prior to making its way to the floor for consideration by the entire House of Representatives. All items on this calendar need a two thirds majority vote of the members which is a higher threshold than a simple majority.

Today is the first legislative day of business for the House and votes will begin at 6:30pm. We are uncertain if the vote will occur this evening because any member may request a recorded vote for a bill on the suspensions calendar delaying the process and our bill is the fifteenth item on the calendar. If a recorded vote is requested and approved, the vote usually is postponed until a later time. If this were to happen with the FAA Reauthorization legislation, it is likely the final vote would occur tomorrow afternoon. We will continue to keep you updated on further developments, but this is wonderful progress and our calls/emails are making a real difference!

Thanks for all you do,
