The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

Good afternoon, Ohio,
Per Ohio’s Affiliate President, Richard Payne, and Envision America, I am asking all to read and provide testimony asap on the accessible labeling bill.
We have a great opportunity to get this finally passed. I want to give you an example of why this is crucial.
Two of the Cleveland Chapter members were given drugs that could have been fatal, due to the pharmacy inability to provide accessible information. One member has currently suffered kidney damage as a result of providing inaccurate dosage. Therefore, it is important that we have a prescription bill put in place to protect the blind and our loved ones.
Here is, Sharla Glass, who is the Public Policy and Community Outreach Liaison for En-Vision America note below.
Also attached, is Rep. Brown’s sponsor testimony, as well as the text and analysis documents for HB 382.
President, Payne will represent the NFB of Ohio on Wednesday!
Once you have prepared your testimony, email or please fill out the attached witness form and submit it to ohrinsurancecommittee at ohiohouse.gov <mailto:ohrinsurancecommittee at ohiohouse.gov> or send it to President Payne.
Finally, if anyone needs assistance, let me know!

Friends,
This is exciting news! Many of you may already know about it, but just in case you haven’t I wanted to let you know!
The accessible labeling bill has been reintroduced under a new bill number and has a hearing this week! This bill would require insurance coverage of accessible prescription readers. They are seeking testimony which needs to be turned in by 10am Tuesday morning. I have attached the witness form that you would need to return along with your testimony to ohrinsurancecommittee at ohiohouse.gov <mailto:ohrinsurancecommittee at ohiohouse.gov> .
