Good morning Ohio!

Yes, our state convention is rapidly approaching. Are all of you getting excited yet? I am. And my excitement is for many reasons. First of all, I just love getting together with my NFB of Ohio family. I also love the energy and excitement that surrounds convention. And, I love Learning about all of the things that will be presented to us throughout that weekend. But one other thing that I very much love our door prizes! I have already seen some of the door prizes that are being donated, so I know this year‘s batch is going to be great! So will you be one of the winners? I hope so. But, we can always use more prizes. It would be great if we had so many prizes that everybody in the room could win! So, if everybody brings a prize, that might, just might, be possible. Door prizes can include small items, such as gift cards, Bath and body products, delicious treats, and even cash. And remember, please have the door prize labeled in braille so that I know what we are giving away, and I know who to thank for the donation. Also, if you have not yet registered for convention, please do so. In order to win a prize you must be registered and you must be in the room when your name is called.

Another exciting thing that happens at convention is our auction. This is a great event That helps us raise money for the affiliate. We are also looking for auction items. These are larger items than door prizes, think of gift, baskets, and electronics, and other items that may be bid on. We’ve even had show tickets. Like the door, prizes, Please make sure that your prize is labeled in braille, so that bitters have a good description of what they are bidding on. Also, please include a minimum bid amount that you are suggesting. This is something new this year that we are trying to ensure that the affiliate Gets what the donations are worth. They do not have to be high amounts, and in fact we do have some lower ticket items that are auctioned off. But we want to ensure that at least a minimum is reached. We know that many of our chapters, divisions, and individuals have donated a lot to put these auction items together and we just want to ensure that the affiliate Gets the benefit of that.

If anyone needs assistance with brailing their door, prizes or auction items, please let me know. You can email me a list or description of what you have and I can do it ahead of time, or I always have a braille rider with me at convention so I can do it then. There is a room that is close to our general session where I will be much as a time to collect door, prizes and auction items. However, if you cannot find me, you can leave these items at the registration table. Or, you can call me and I will let you know when I will be in the room.

Looking forward to having a great convention!

Annette.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
