Asia,

Congratulations!

Ohio is quite proud of you, and I cannot wait to attend your virtual graduation.

As a former employee of SSA and a SSI Claims Representative, my advice would be for you to reach out to your CR at your local office. There are a few blind work incentives available. Also, SSA has a program for beginners who are seeking self-employment. Also, OOD has Benefit Specialist that should be able to walk you through the process. However, I still have connections if you run into any issues that are not understandable.

Suzanne

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] having a business as a blind person

hello everyone,

I am planning to open up a business for health coaching in June. I have been working with a business advisor the last few months to work on my business model. I will send out more details if anyone is interested in my business when I get it up and started. I do have a question though. For blind business owner, how do you set up your business where the businesses income does not affect your SSI?

Yours truely,

Asia Quinones-Evans
