Good morning,

Hopefully, those in this thread will be doing what you can to assist with the seminar and all the issues that we face.

Transportation has not been ruled out and we will do our best to address your concerns remember that on your local level you can have a great effect on what your local paratransit service does.

I mention the above because we need members to commit to joining us in Columbus and let's work on the issues together.

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

I also agree that transportation is an issue that needs to be addressed and the Browns stadium should not be a top priority in the governor's budget. Here in Medina, we have paratransit, but it is extremely unreliable and if I were to use it, I would end up being late to work every day and they don't even operate on evenings or weekends, so if a family member can't drive me, I don't go. I think there needs to be particular focus on intercounty transportation, not just within the county where you live.

I agree whole heartitly that prescriptions and the current topics are great. However, in the 10 years I have been in the NFB, it appears transportation like paratransit has never been a concern or issue brought up. Uber and Lyft was more towards discrimination of service animals rather than actual transportation. So I am asking people on the legislative committee and the affiliate to consider how we can address the issues of transportation, particularly paratransit. One thing for sure is part of the governors budget can go more towards paratransit as apposed to the Browns Statium.
