National Federation of the Blind of Ohio Announces 79th Annual State
Convention
Westlake, OH
The National Federation of the Blind of Ohio (NFBO) proudly announces its
79th Annual State
Convention, taking place November 6–9, 2025, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel,
1100
Crocker Rd., Westlake, OH 44145.
This exciting gathering will bring together blind Ohioans, advocates,
professionals, and allies for four days of education, empowerment, and
community.
The convention provides a unique opportunity for the public to learn about
blindness and the capabilities of blind individuals. Rooted in the belief
that blind people can organize and advocate on our own behalf, the NFBO
continues to reflect the diversity and strength of our nationwide
membership.
Convention Highlights
Thursday, November 6
• Employment Seminar (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM) – A dynamic session featuring
speakers
and discussions on reasonable accommodations, workplace discrimination,
adaptive
equipment, networking, and the benefits of hiring blind individuals. A
panel of blind
professionals will also share their workplace experiences.
• Pre-Convention Fundraiser: “A Bowl of Fun” (7:00 PM) – Support the NFBO
Treasury by pledging $0.25 or more for every pin knocked down by blind
bowlers.
Proceeds strengthen our advocacy, programs, and services across Ohio.
Pledge sheets
will be distributed to select your blind bowler.
Friday, November 7
• Deaf-Blind Committee Luncheon and Learn (12:15 PM – 1:45 PM) – Gain
insight
into the unique resources and communication styles of hard-of-hearing and
deaf-blind
individuals. Pre-order lunch by visiting NFBOhio.ORG/Convention to complete
the form.
• Opening Session (2:00 PM) – Welcome addresses from John Brad Dean, field
representative for Congresswoman Chontel Brown; Ohio State Senator, Nikki
Antonio;
and Ohio State Representative, Darnell Brewer. Additional keynote speakers
include
Brandon Smith, Public Affairs Specialist from the Social Security
Administration and other
inspiring leaders and networks.
• Evening Fellowship (5:00 PM) – Join us in the hospitality suite for food
and fun.
(6:00 PM) A host of breakout sessions will be available to learn and meet
members.
(9:00 PM) There is a talent show that will close the evening events.
Saturday, November 8
• Informative Sessions (all day) – Featuring Disability Rights Ohio,
Cuyahoga
Community College Adult Program Services, and more.
• Exhibit Hall (Noon-4:00 PM) Explore the latest technology, gadgets,
tools, and
resources designed to support independence and opportunity for the blind.
• Awards Banquet (6:00 PM) – Presentation of scholarships to blind students,
recognition of the “Chapter on the Move,” and awards honoring outstanding
achievements in 2025.
Sunday, November 9
• Closing Session (9:00 AM) – Reflect on our collective work throughout the
year, hold
elections, and look forward to 2026.
