Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Subject: Re: [Ohio-Talk] Request for Volunteer Hours Submission
Hello Mr. Payne.
I'm not sure if my volunteer work in the VI community falls under "outreach" or not. My routine volunteer activities include: cleaning up after guide dogs in training, reading on air for the print disabled, assisting with maintenance of a local low vision support group, and handling audio setup in support of my local ACB chapter meetings. I am also an active NFB member and regularly attend my local chapter NFB meetings. I have volunteered for activities to support my local NFB chapter in '25 but they are not routinely recurring activities.
If this is what you have in mind, my info:

Dave

Greetings Ohio,
We are reaching out to seek your assistance. Many of our members actively work across the state and nationally, and their hours are tracked to support our organizational filings. We are being asked to submit the names of members who are willing to log their volunteer hours. These donated hours play a crucial role in our national reporting. If you are willing to help track your work, please provide your name, email, and phone number. The national team has simplified the process for submitting hours, making it much easier. After reading the information below, please email me off list with your details.
Message to the President of the Ohio Affiliate
Dear President of the Ohio affiliate,
Please read this message carefully as it contains important information and instructions.
Recognition and Goals
Happy New Year! Thank you for your dedication and hard work throughout 2025. The audit report on donated services hours clearly shows that our members are active and engaged, and this would not be possible without your leadership. Congratulations on achieving our 100K goal! We hope to replicate this success in the coming year.
Updating the Volunteer List
We are requesting your help in updating our 2026 list of donated services volunteers. Please inform us of any individuals who are no longer active in the affiliate so we can remove them from the list. Additionally, we encourage you to help the program grow by identifying new candidates who regularly contribute to our affiliate or chapters.
Submission Instructions for New Volunteers
For new additions to the volunteer list, please send the following current information for each individual who has agreed to provide hours:
* Name
* Phone number (if available)
* Email address (preferred contact method)
Types of Trackable Volunteer Work
The following activities are examples of work that can be tracked for NFB’s annual reporting:
1. Assisting with meetings
2. Outreach to the public
3. Membership recruitment
4. Convention and seminar planning
5. Web page management
6. Tracking finances
7. Committee work
8. Writing and editing newsletters and other communications
9. Advocacy, including legislative activities and attending IEPs
10. Fundraising efforts
11. Zoom meeting hosting
This list is not exhaustive. Any unpaid work performed for NFB qualifies. Please refer those who are likely to report hours regularly to outreach and contact me with any questions.
Closing and Contact Information
On behalf of the Office of the President, thank you for all you have contributed and for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Belinda Hooks
