I am very excited to share that Vancro has been awarded the contract to
provide Support Service Provider/Co-Navigator (SSP/CN) services for the
State of Ohio, and we are officially getting started!
Over the coming weeks, our team will continue to meet with key stakeholders
as we plan a community meet-and-greet, and prepare to host an SSP/CN
training . Most importantly, we are now accepting applications for both
SSP/Co-Navigators and DeafBlind program participants.
The program is available to Ohioans who have both hearing and vision loss.
Participants may use ASL or spoken English and may have limited vision or be
completely blind. Services are individualized based on each person's
communication preferences, access needs, and goals.
If you are unfamiliar with SSP/CN services and think you or someone you know
may qualify for the program, this short video link provides a helpful
introduction. It is in ASL with captions and voice over:

We have also included accessible PDF materials that provide additional
information about the program, how to apply for services, and how to apply
to become an SSP/CN. Please feel free to review and share these materials
with anyone who may be interested. We will be sending Braille versions and
hard copies out as soon as they are available.
If you would like to apply to receive SSP/CN services or are interested in
becoming an SSP/CN, you may submit an application using the appropriate form
below. Once we receive your application we will reach out to onboard
program participants and previously trained SSPs to start services right
away. You may also contact us to sign up by email, text, voice, or
videophone. We can also send this application in an email if that's easier.
Just let us know!
If you are a new SSP we will be announcing a training date very soon.
Please submit an application now so that we can be planful in securing a
training location.
We are happy to answer any questions and assist with the application
process. Just give us a call or send us a message!
We are honored and delighted to be serving Ohio!

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
