Dexcom G6 is now available for Medicare patients*

For your Medicare patients new to Dexcom, here is what you need to know:

*	Ensure your patients meet the  <https://dexcom.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f6cec88d035c8eeac538f0056&id=994681182e&e=f654bdf2a8> Medicare coverage criteria*
*	Prescribe to the patient’s preferred Walgreens location†
*	Walgreens will reach out to your office for required documentation
*	Walgreens will follow up with the patient to fill their prescription‡

Medicare patients currently using Dexcom G5 will be automatically updated to Dexcom G6 when their Dexcom G5 transmitter is out of warranty. This means they will automatically get a new Dexcom G6 transmitter and sensors with instructions on how to update the receiver and app. If they do not have a compatible receiver, they will get a new Dexcom G6 receiver.

Highlights from the ADA’s Standards of Medical Care 2020 

CGM continues to guide many industry conversations as reiterated throughout the American Diabetes Association’s recently published  <https://dexcom.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f6cec88d035c8eeac538f0056&id=cdac838bfe&e=f654bdf2a8> Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes--2020. A few notable changes from the guidance include:1

*	RT-CGM is now rated "A" level evidence to improve glycemic control in patients with T1D (by contrast, intermittent scanning CGM was given an evidence rating of "C" for the same population).2 
*	 RT-CGM may be used to effectively improve A1C, increase time in range, and improve neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with T1D.2  
*	Blinded CGM devices were considered helpful tools for retrospective data analysis, patient education, and medication titration.3
