[Perform-talk] Question about FaceBooks

Hi. Well, I'm not sure about going back a page in facebook, I don't seem to
have issues with that here and I have firefox and IE both setup to delete
temp files and history on exit. Not sure why you can't log into facebook on
firefox.

Web vism is great! I'm okay with the craigs list audio clips now as the
movie clips are usually easy to understand.

As far as the large mailings on facebook, I'm not sure. This is where
something like twitter is very good as a marketing tool and I think things
are definetly going that way. as far as newsletter subscribers I have, I do
all of that in outlook because when you try to do it in my space or facebook
etc, you usually run into issues with them tagging you as a spammer, which
can be quite frustrating.

There is a way to do a mass mailing on facebook but I've never done it. If
I happen to find out how that is done, I'll be sure to let you know.

Cameron.

Hi Cameron,
Funny you should mention Firefox. I have Firefox 3 as my default browser,
but I can't get into FaceBook at all with it. It always says that cookies
are not enabled, which they are. I even looked in the cookies folder once
and found FaceBook cookies already in there when it was claiming cookies
weren't enabled. I have it set to clear temp files upon exit, and I haven't
tried changing that to see if it makes a difference.

The thing with IE -- and it might be true on Firefox for all I know -- is
that you can't go back a page on Facebook, which is something I have a hard
time remembering. It results in a "page has expired" notice, and then I have
to close out and sign in again. There's also the fact that you have to do
CAPTCHA's. I have Web Visum and love their CAPTCHA solving tool which I use
a lot when I post Performing Arts Division notices and stories to
CraigsList. I've come to some peace with FaceBook's audio CAPTCHA, though,
since it's a lot easier to hear than some of the ones I encountered before
getting Web Visum. They're using clips from old movies. Still, I'd rather
use Firefox.

Do you happen to know if there is a way of creating a mailing list in
FaceBook? There's a thing for creating a list, but the description doesn't
specifically mention that you can use it as a mailing list. I made one for
my friends on FaceBook who aren't on LinkedIn, but entering the name in the
"To" field for composing a message doesn't work. I recently promoted a press
release about Los Ciegos Del Barrio's new CD and their contribution to the
Mary Anne Parks Performing Arts Division Scholarship, which was easy on
Linked In, since you can check up to fifty names for each mailing. With
FaceBook, however, I had to do them one at a time. Not only was this time
consuming and tedeous, but I actually got fast enough at it that I triggered
the FaceBook security system and got a rather nasty message about being in
violation of some rule about not sending lots of messages in a short time.

Thanks,
Donna

You're very welcome. Glad to help. Also, as a side note, I have better
luck with facebook using firefox than with internet explorer.

Cameron,
You're a genius! I did it! That's been killing me for months, because I was
expecting to find something in the links list or by using h to get down
through the headings.
Thanks so much,
Donna

Hi. When you log into facebook, when you're on the home page, do a jaws
find for the word requests. Then under that, it will say, for example, you
have 3 friend requests, 5 group invitations, etc.

Hope that helps.

Cameron.

Hi Friends,
I can't figure out how to accept FaceBook Friend invitations. I receive
e-mails from FB entitled "... has added you as a friend on FaceBook" and
there is a link to follow to accept, but none of the links work, whether
I enter on them directly or copy and paste them. I get an IE error page
saying the page can't be opened.

I've looked everywhere on my FaceBook page to try to find them. They're
not in my In box or under Friend Finder, Find Friends and I can't find a
Request or Friend Request link.

Please help, people must think I'm a real snob for not accepting their
invitations!
Thanks,
Donna Hill
