The performing arts division of the national federation of the blind cordially invites you to join us Tuesday July 5 in Orlando Florida at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. in Suwannee 21, Level 2 during the general membership meeting. The first 90 minutes will consist of a panel discussion featuring three of our very own. JP Williams, JW Smith and Lisa Ostrow.

JP Williams is a singer-songwriter who has performed everywhere from the Kennedy Center in Washington DC to colleges throughout the eastern U.S. He recently had the number 1 song, Never Walk Alone, on the National Southern Gospel charts for the month of May 2011.

Dr. Smith has worked as a music therapist and as a radio announcer, however since 1983, Dr. Smith has taught a variety of courses at the university level. These courses have included; Persuasion, Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking, Business and Professional Speaking, Political Communication, Rhetoric and Public Address, History of Rhetorical Theory, Oral Interpretation, Religious Rhetoric, Black Communication Styles and Communication with Persons with Physical Disabilities.

Lisa is an award-winning singer’s songwriter and recording artist, as well as co-owner of Out of the Blue Records, an independent record label based in Massachusetts. Her first album, "Unconditional", was released in 2007, and one of the songs, "Maybe I Like It This Way" reached No. 20 on the iTunes Easy Pop/Easy Listening chart. The album itself stayed at No. 8 on CD-Baby's Easy Pop chart for 17 weeks. She is also a Voting Member of the Recording Academy, the organization responsible for the Grammy Awards.

So come join with us and interact with these very talented artists! This promises to be a discussion you won’t want to miss!

The second half of the meeting will be the ProTools workshop with Singer song writer and producer Kevin Reeves. The purpose of the workshop will be to show off the basics of Pro Tools. He will demonstrate it's basic functionality: recording, editing, adding plugins, etc. He will also field any questions folks might have.

The meeting will also include information and discussion of the Sound in Sight Vol 2 album, the newly released album put together by the division. There will be a few artists from the album at convention. The album is going for $10. Division membership dues is $5.
