Well, update:
I just had a conversation with the principal and I made it clear
how I felt: She was taken by surprise, but that's only because I
have been nothing but patient and kind for the last almost year,
and look where it landed me! ☹ She did admit that she hadn't
made it a priority and promised that she would make it higher on
her priorities. Whether that holds true in the future remains to
be seen; however, I am still going in next Tuesday as planned. I
am meeting with an eighth-grade student who is supposedly very
eager to meet me, and I invited the parent(s) to come in and
observe. My plan is to meet with the student for 45 minutes, the
first several minutes will be spent getting to know each other,
getting an idea of her singing goals, and we're just going to
jump right in! I thought about contacting her ahead of time as
my very first voice teacher did with me, but I figure the best
way we're going to make it work is if I just go in there and do
the thing. A phone conversation is just that and it does not
allow the students to see me in action and vice versa.
Thanks so much for your encouragement and prayers!
Annie
