Not necessarily, but it has been helpful to me, also being a singer.
A great resource I would recommend is:
www.narratorsroadmap.com, a great one-stop shop for literally all things narration😊.
I hope that is helpful.
There are also several Clubhouse rooms that focus specifically on audiobooks:
The Global Actor Lounge
Audiobooks
Narrator Uplift.
It is a great field, and the industry is seriously making efforts in the way of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Hi,
Do you have to have voice acting experience to be a narrator for audio books? I’ve always been interested in creating things to audio.

What I love about this book is that is captures all emotions. You can feel Blue’s pain as she grieves the loss of her mother, but will laugh at all the ways she tries to get out of trouble. It really was a delight to narrate, so I hope you’ll check it out and/or share with those you know.
