[Perform-Talk] Finding a job as a piano teacher

Hello,
Just a few thoughts. Do you use Braille Music or another form of
notation? If so, how fast can you sight read? You might be able to get
work as an exams pianist for childrens and/or adult instrument grades,
or perhaps a rehearsal pianist for choirs. Examinations accompaniment
work tends to be working with the general public and in this respect,
the ideas above about increasing your Internet presence are correct.
Have a look at the different exam boards, to see if you can get your
name posted as an accompaniest. If you're really focused on teaching
exclusively and not performing, still visit piano shops and other
music shops. Quite a lot of them have notices about teachers giving
lessons and would have no problem with you adding to this, if you ask.
Make sure you get sighted help with the formatting and visual layout
so that it's eyecatching, for the right reasons.
HTH,
very best wishes,
Sandra.
