[Perform-Talk] Real music resource

Hi, I forwarded this to a few other mailing lists anonymously and got the
following responses.
One person said: "The best resource I can recommend would be the set of
raised diagrams that RNIB produced to go along with Eric Taylor's book,
"The AB Guide to Music Theory." This, used in conjunction with Bettye
Krolick's "Dictionary of Braille Music" would probably work if the two
books were cross-referenced. As for a single document that contains exact
Braille-to-print correspondence, I don't think there is one."
Another person said: "The Music Braille Code 2015 contains tables with the
braille and print side by side."
Another said, "This is another instance where resources that were once
available are no longer, as far as I am aware. This may well vary from one
country to another. It’s an important issue, and something of a gap in my
own education.
My best suggestion at present is to get hold of magnetic print music
symbols, which are commercially available and pretty good. They’re also
large enough to feel really easily. It’s not just the symbols you need to
know, but also how they are placed on the stave, for example, clefs, rests,
etc. I think it’s very helpful to work with a sighted musician. You could
use swell paper or film to ask a sighted musician to draw some print music
but they will need to significantly enlarge it to enable you to feel it
easily. E.G. I worked on A3 size paper with stave lines a couple of
centimetres or so apart."
I hope these responses give some food for thought.
