Hey everyone,
Sound Without Sight just announced today that their next monthly meetup
will focus on tips for working with MuseScore for partially sighted
musicians and other musicians with print disabilities. It will take place
on Wednesday June 18 at 7 pm UK time/6 pm GMT via Zoom.
>From the website:
We are excited to announce our next Monthly Meet-up, featuring a demo and
Q&A with Peter Jonas! Peter is a Software Developer and Community
Ambassador for MuseScore and Muse Group.
Intended to compliment James Bowden’s previous demonstration of MuseScore
Studio using a screen reader, this session will focus primarily on how to
access all the functions that might be useful to low vision and
neurodivergent musicians. We believe this Meet-up will be especially
interesting for musicians themselves, teachers, ensemble leaders, and music
hub staff.
Peter and I will demonstrate:
• Adapting MuseScore Studio’s user interface theme, accent colour, font,
and text size.
• Applying an RNIB Modified Stave Notation (large print) style preset to
any score.
• Creating your own style template according to your reading preferences,
which you can then apply to any score.
• Using ‘continuous view’ to reformat your score into one long system that
you can scroll along without changing lines or turning pages.
• Selecting an individual part from a large ensemble score for easier
reading.
• Changing the colour of the page background and score elements.
• Using plugins to apply Boomwhacker colours to note heads, as well as
Figurenotes colours and shapes.
